People living in and around the abandoned quarry of Lakshmipura, Anekal taluk, south of Bengaluru, fear they are sitting on a powder keg, crevices in flattened earth of the quarry is spewing gas that lights up at the light of a match, rain water collected in nearby pits occasionally start boiling and the heat in the area is perceptible, residents allege the fire and bad smoke is due to unscientific dumping of the city’s waste at the quarry which the BBMP was doing for some years till recently, in Bengaluru on Monday 20th July 2015
